Join Our Team!

Beyond Borders Mental Health Center is growing, and we are looking for passionate professionals to grow with us. We are a team of compassionate caregivers dedicated to making a difference in our community. If you share our vision of breaking down barriers in mental health and providing exceptional, client-centered care, we’d love to hear from you. Below are our current opportunities:

- Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) – Now Hiring
Are you a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with a heart for helping others? We have openings for LPCs to join our clinical team. As a therapist at Beyond Borders MHC, you will provide individual, group, and/or family therapy to clients dealing with a variety of mental health concerns. We are especially interested in counselors who are bilingual (English/Spanish) and eager to serve the Rio Grande City community.

Job Overview: In this role, you’ll maintain a caseload of clients, conduct intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide ongoing psychotherapy services. You’ll have the flexibility to work with different age groups based on your experience (children, teens, adults, or all). Our center values a collaborative approach – you’ll work alongside fellow counselors and our psychiatrist to ensure clients receive well-rounded care. We provide a furnished office space, administrative support for scheduling and billing, and a steady referral stream so you can focus on what you do best: helping clients heal and grow.

Why Beyond Borders? We offer a supportive, family-like work environment. Expect regular team meetings, access to peer consultation, and opportunities for professional development. As a new practice, we are open to your ideas and initiative – you can help shape programs or therapy groups that match your passions. We strive to handle the administrative burdens so you can concentrate on clinical work. Competitive compensation is provided (with fee-for-service or salary options, depending on your preference and caseload), and we handle credentialing with insurance panels.

If you are licensed in Texas (LPC or LPC-Associate under supervision), in good standing, and have a genuine desire to make a positive impact in clients’ lives, we encourage you to apply. Experience in any of our service areas (trauma, family therapy, child therapy, etc.) is a plus, but newly licensed counselors are also welcome – we all learn from each other here. Most importantly, we seek therapists who are empathetic, ethical, and driven by a passion for mental health.

How to Apply: Please email your resume/CV and a brief cover letter to rgc@beyondbordersmhc.com. Include “LPC Application” in the subject line. In your cover letter, let us know why you’re interested in working with Beyond Borders and what special skills or focus areas you bring (for example, experience with a certain population or modality). We will review applications on a rolling basis and contact qualified candidates to schedule an interview. Come be a part of a new practice where your ideas are valued and your work truly matters! 🌟

- Master’s-Level Internship Opportunities
Are you a graduate student in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field seeking a clinical internship? Beyond Borders MHC is pleased to support the next generation of mental health professionals through supervised internships. We provide a rich learning environment for Master’s-level interns who need to complete practicum or internship hours for their degree.

What We Offer: As an intern with us, you will receive hands-on experience in a community mental health setting. Interns typically have the opportunity to observe and eventually conduct therapy sessions (individual and possibly group), perform initial assessments, participate in treatment team meetings, and learn about day-to-day practice operations. You will be supervised by a fully licensed professional (LPC-S or equivalent), who will meet with you weekly for formal supervision and provide guidance and mentorship throughout your time with us. Our team is committed to helping you develop your clinical skills in a supportive, encouraging atmosphere. You’ll also gain experience with documentation (notes, treatment plans), ethical decision-making, and working with a multidisciplinary team (therapists and psychiatric providers).

We aim to tailor the internship to your educational requirements and interests. If you have a particular interest (say, play therapy or group therapy), we will do our best to involve you in those services. By the end of your internship, you should feel more confident and prepared for your career as a counselor or therapist.

Intern Requirements: Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field, and be at the stage of their program where an internship/practicum is required. We prefer interns who can commit to at least 15-20 hours per week for a semester (or as required by your program). Professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to learn are a must. Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.

How to Apply for Internship: Please send your resume and a brief cover letter to rgc@beyondbordersmhc.com with the subject line “Internship Application.” In the cover letter, let us know your program, how many hours you need, your availability, and what you hope to learn or what populations/issues you’re interested in. We may also request a letter of recommendation or contact info for your faculty advisor. We accept internship applications on an ongoing basis, but spaces are limited, so we recommend reaching out early in your school semester.

Join us in our mission to make a difference in the community. Whether you’re an experienced counselor or a student just starting your journey, Beyond Borders Mental Health Center offers a meaningful place to work and grow. We are excited to build a team that shares our commitment to compassionate care.

We can’t wait to meet you! 🤝(For any questions about careers or internships, feel free to email us at rgc@beyondbordersmhc.com or call (956) 731-0515. We’d be happy to discuss opportunities with you.)
